The Emerald & Evergreen

Once draped in Spring’s lush verdant shades

To Autumn brown begin to fade

And fall to Winter’s frozen fate

Save for the evergreen.

But the world keeps turning toward the sun

Our race is never fully run

But now anew again begun

A new years vision dreams

The hazel and the maple sprout

Do boldly lift their head about

As Spring’s buds swell and then burst out

To new born emerald leaves
